Company’s Move Reflects Demand for Industrial Space in North Branch Industrial Corridor

North Branch Works welcomes the news that Mars Wrigley will locate its new Mars Wrigley Confectionery, on Goose Island in the North Branch Industrial Corridor, which is home to many successful, family-owned businesses. The new confectionery combines Mars’ Chocolate and Wrigley segments into the largest confectionery in the world.

Gentrification along Chicago River worries longtime industrial businesses – The Chicago Tribune interviewed businesses including Bigane Paving and Horween Leather to get insight from industrial business owners about the potential negative impacts of residential building within Planned Manufacturing Districts.

NBW’s Very Own Mike Holzer Talks about PMDS on CAN TV
Mike Holzer, Executive Director of North Branch Works was interview by Ken Davis from Chicago Access Network Television (CAN TV). They discussed the future of the Planned Manufacturing District on the North side between Clybourn and Elston avenues, where several large plants have left and there’s pressure to redevelop the zone for residential and commercial projects. Chicago needs to redefine “industrial” to include modern manufacturing, he says, in order to keep the PMD and encourage jobs in the area.
