On August 16, 2022, North Branch Works was especially sad to learn of the passing of our longtime board member, Lynn Werner.

A leader in the plastic distribution business, Lynn served as the President of Superior Fomebords, a manufacturer of graphic arts display board products.

As one of the first woman-owned businesses in the North Branch, Lynn was a trailblazer and built a road that many women followed.

Indeed, one of the area’s strongest assets today is our many strong and thriving woman-owned businesses. And we thank and recognize Lynn for her major contribution to them.

In addition, Lynn was an original member of Women in Plastics, which remains an influential organization in the plastics distribution business. She always made time to mentor women and helped them grow and advance within the plastics industry.

Her fellow North Branch Works board members recall Lynn’s passion for our silent auction and her consistent ability to convince area businesses to donate items and experiences.

Her dedication to NBW showed in the incredible nature and variety of items secured for our silent auctions. Simply put, she set a high bar that our current staff strives to meet.

Lynn cared deeply about many charitable causes in Chicago including animal welfare. She was a parishioner at St. Clement Church of Chicago and an amazing mother and grandmother.

North Branch Works is grateful to Lynn for her more than twenty years of service on our board of directors. Her dedication to our mission of advocating for small and industrial businesses and high-quality jobs continues to inspire us.

In honor of Lynn Werner, donations can be made to Paws Chicago and Tree House Humane Society.
