On July 27th, we hosted the 4th annual Bike the North Branch tour, offering a delightful journey through the vibrant North Branch and Albany Park neighborhoods.

Our enthusiastic group of cyclists embarked on a unique adventure, visiting four dynamic local businesses: Rositas Tacos & Cocina, New Dokil Bakery, Brothers Restaurant, and The Alley Chicago.

The tour began at the Alley Chicago (2620 W. Fletcher St), where our riders received a warm welcome and a special coupon for a free shirt. The Alley Chicago, known for its eclectic selection of merchandise, allowed our participants to explore its unique offerings. We also spent time with the passionate owner, Mark Thomas, behind this iconic shop.

Our group cycled along the picturesque North Branch Trail, enjoying the scenic views and fresh air. The trail led us to Horner Park, where we took a brief pause to appreciate the lush greenery and peaceful surroundings. This pleasant route set the tone for a leisurely and enjoyable ride.

Our next destination was Rositas Tacos (3336 W Lawrence Ave)  in Albany Park, a beloved local spot renowned for its authentic Mexican cuisine. The staff at Rositas Tacos treated our riders to mouthwatering free samples of Queso Birria, providing a flavorful introduction to the menu. The vibrant atmosphere and delicious food made this stop a highlight of the tour.

Continuing our journey along Lawrence Avenue, we arrived at New Dokil Bakery (3844 W Lawrence Ave). The friendly team offered an assortment of Korean pastries, allowing our riders to indulge in the delightful tastes and textures of these sweet treats while learning about the bakery's dedication to quality and tradition. The unique flavors and warm hospitality left a lasting impression on everyone.

Our tour then took us to Brothers Restaurant (3000 W. Belmont Ave) in Avondale, a cherished dining spot in the community. Owner Nestor Hurtado welcomed our group with an on-the-house lunch and refreshing cold tea. The inviting ambiance and generous hospitality provided a perfect mid-ride respite, allowing our participants to relax and enjoy a delicious meal.

Throughout the tour, the owners of each business greeted our ride patrons and shared fascinating insights into the day-to-day operations and the stories behind their establishments. This personal touch enriched the experience, fostering a deeper connection between the cyclists and the local businesses.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Rositas Tacos, New Dokil Bakery, Brothers Restaurant, and the Alley Chicago for their generous participation and support. Your contributions made this event truly special. We also want to express our gratitude to everyone who joined us on this memorable tour.

Stay tuned for more exciting events and updates from North Branch Works as we continue to champion and support our local businesses and neighborhoods.
