On September 15th, North Branch Works hosted a meeting with CDOT regarding the latest updates on the Chicago Avenue and Division Street Bridge replacement projects.

Nearly twenty attendees participated in the meeting. The following project timelines were shared:

Chicago Avenue River Bridge & Chicago-Halsted Viaduct Project:

• Phase I & II, engineering stages were completed in 2025
• Phase III, construction phase will be completed by the end of 2026
• Vehicle and truck detours are in place during construction
• The existing Chicago Avenue temporary bridge will be removed to make way for the new fixed tied-arch bridge and river walk over the North Branch of the river

Division Street Bridges and Division Street Roadway Implementation:

• Construction is expected to begin at the end of Q1
• The existing bascule bridge over the River will be removed. This will be replaced with a fixed but potentially movable, tied-arch bridge
• Remove the existing temporary bridge over the Canal and replace with a fixed thrust-arch bridge
• There is no detour, instead a Run-a-round (diversion) will be used for both bridges
