The City of Chicago’s Small Business Improvement Fund is a dynamic program that provides businesses with reimbursable grants for building improvements.
SBIF is scheduled to open in the Goose Island Tax Increment Financing District (TIF) in August. The deadline to apply is August 30th at 5 p.m.
Commercial businesses are eligible for a grant up to $150,000 while industrial companies with 200 or less employees can receive a maximum of $250,000 with 50% project reimbursement.
SBIF grants can be used for upgrades like a new roof, windows, doors, floors, bathroom remodeling, tuckpointing, electrical wiring, plumbing work, solar panels, and more.
The program does not come around often so we encourage businesses and property owners on Goose Island to consider applying.
To be eligible, businesses must have a physical location in the Goose Island TIF District. You can look up your property and confirm it is in the TIF by using this link.
The initial application can be completed via Submittable.
North Branch Works and Wintrust Bank are hosting an information session for businesses on Goose Island.
It'll be held on August 5th at noon in the lounge on the fourth floor of the 1001 N North Branch building. Wintrust Bank is generously providing lunch at no cost.
Thank you to R2 for hosting the meeting.
If you’d like to attend the information, please RSVP to Hayden Tillinger at hayden@northbranchworks.org
