The City of Chicago’s Small Business Improvement Fund (SBIF) is an incredible resource for strengthening businesses in our service area.
SBIF provides reimbursable grants to businesses for building improvements.
Commercial businesses are eligible for grants up to $150,000 while industrial companies with less than two hundred employees can receive a maximum of $250,000 with 50% project reimbursement.
We’re thrilled that SBIF will open in two Tax Increment Financing Districts in the North Branch in 2025: Goose Island and Addison South.
SBIF grants can be used for improvements such as new roofs, windows, and doors, tuckpointing repairs, new HVAC systems, remodeling bathrooms, solar panels and more.
Our staff will lead the outreach to businesses for SBIF on Goose Island and in Addison South. SBIF will open on Goose Island on September 1st. Businesses will have until Sept.30th to apply.
The SBIF program will open in Addison South on December 1st. Companies will have until December 30th to submit an application.
We encourage businesses on Goose Island and in Addison South to begin thinking about what type of SBIF project would help your business.
As we get closer to September and December, NBW will do extensive outreach and make sure that eligible businesses take advantage of this amazing opportunity.
We can help you complete the initial application, obtain two bids from contractors, and secure low-interest loans for your project.
To be eligible, businesses must be located in the Goose Island TIF District or the Addison South TIF District.
