July 31, 2026

Our summer kayak tour sets sail on Saturday, August 15th (10 a.m. to noon)! Please sign up via this link.

Attendance is limited, so get your tickets now!

We are partnering with Water Riders, Urban Rivers, and Friends of the Chicago River to facilitate this relaxing paddle up the North Branch. Our tour will depart from Eastbank Club (500 N Kingsbury) at 10 a.m. and head to Goose Island where we will stop at the Wild Mile.

After hearing about the Wild Mile and discussing the dynamic businesses along the river, we will return to East Bank Club, finishing our 4.5 mile-long route around 12 p.m.

Following the ride, we invite everyone to join us for an optional walking tour of the area west of Goose Island, where construction of the bridge projects has created a challenging environment for our businesses.

We will also talk about Prairie Material's nearby concrete yard, the largest one in the State of Illinois, and see progress on the construction of Bally's Casino, which is on track to open in 2027.

This walk and transit tour will lead us to Jerk. Jamaican Barbecue. We will share about the business's development at this unique junction of the river, and attendees are invited to have lunch on their own.

This experience is a great way to cap off your summer recreation plans, exploring our city's urban nature and its role as a "working" river.

One and two-person kayaks will be available. If you happen to own a kayak, you’re welcome to bring it and join the event. We hope you can paddle with us and experience the majesty of the North Branch of the Chicago River.

Proceeds support Wateriders Kayaks and the neighborhood economic development work of North Branch Works.
